I might be dreaming...

...but I certainly hope I'm not. Let me tell you why...

I have had my own company for couple of years now - just as my hobby giving seasonal courses in wreath- and flowerarrangement-making. My ordinary jobb has been selling accounting sofware, a nice easy jobb after many years in advertisement business.

I went back to work after maternity leava about a month ago and it just didn't feel right. Sitting in a office all day, wasting my valuable time! Having a big family and husband that travels a lot in his work wasn't the perfect combo either. What I knew was that I just had to forget the flower business -there was no time.

My travelling husband is also the most wonderful husband - he promised all his support if I wanted to focus on Blomsterverkstad-business and make it grow. And you know what, I quit last week! Today my title is fotographer/stylist/flower decorator/writer. Nothing else. Well maybe accountant, pr-person, marketing-person, cleaning lady, computerpro, strategical planner, delivery girl as well.. but I'm definetely loving what I'm doing.

This my friend means that I have more time for you!!! New ideas, lots of how-to pictures and descriptions, introducing other flower decorators, telling about events, books, magazines, running competitions, and again, showing lots and lots of inspiring ideas for decorating your home and garden. There is only one but - and that is money. Since there is no monthly pay check I have to start finding ways to pay my bills. I read somewhere that you shouldn't be afraid to talk to your "customers" and ask for their opinion. So that's what I'll do.

Dear friends!
Which of the following you prefer

  1. Blog Blomsterverkstad has to announce less postings since the author is buzy working for magazines.
  2. Blog Blomsterverkstad goes Club Blomsterverkstad and will be bigger, better and updated five times a week, text in swedish and english. Members only, monthly fee (apprx 3 E, 28 kr, 4 $ /paid for 6 months in advance).
  3. Blog Blomsterverkstad (the bigger, better and often updated one) will receive donations from it's readers via PayPal and the page is alive as long as you feel it's worth it.
  4. Blog Blomsterverkstad should close down immediately since the author is getting bigheade, greedy and has totally missed the point in blogging.

I'd be truly grateful if you take a minute and leave a comment. I want to do something that you appreciate, not something I think you appreciate. If you want to mail me personally you'll find the adress here.

A big hug, Minna : )

Stor kram, Minna :)

Privet, stiff sticks and (soontobetold) juicy details

Privet (liguster in swedish) is quite similar to elderberries. It works better in bouquettes and arrangements since it has a stiff stick.

(stiff stick...oh my lord.. sometimes I wonder if you're laughing away when reading my postings...my english has gotten really bad and I have to look up words from tyda.se all the time... well, have fun, ask if you don't understand).

I've been meaning to do something with these beauties I nicked from a park close to my childrens school, but haven't got anything to show yet. And now when I look at the picture - I don't think I want to do anything, they make a lovely bouquette alone!

Tomorrow will be a special day for me...and Monday will be even more special! Come back for the juicy details :)

Yours,
Minna : )

Again and again and again...

It seems like I just can't get enough of elderberries and hydrangea. Aren't they adorable?!
Love, Minna : )

Pears, pears, pears

We have plenty of them - pears! Since we cannot eat and perserve them all I have find new ways to use them. Above a couple examples. Easy, and quite decorative as long as they last.

The candle and arrngement decoration where the pear is cut in halv suits best for one night use... the rotting process goes quite fast. In arrangements the whole fruit is used and sits on its place with steel wire. You can also use a wooden bambustick.

Enjoy all the beautiful colors!

Attention Skone people - Fleamarket on Saturday!!!

Foto: Jeanette

On Saturday the 20th of September is Jeanette having a fleamarket at her place. I promise, there will be loads of just fantastic things on sale. I've been to her home and it a paradise for us shabby chics!

Happy Friday to you all!

Perfect match

Aren't they just perfect for each other - elderberry and hydrangea. I love making arrangements this time of year when I have plenty of both growing here.
I made this chandelier last year, if you want more details how it was done, check the post here.
All the best my friends, let the creativity flow!

Keep it simple!

When decorating a table it's often a very good idea to keep it simple. Advanced large arrangements take time to make, can be expencive and - are very often moved away to a side table since the space is needed for diffrent dishes and dinner quests trying to eat. At my place anyway :)
Taking advantage of what your garden has to offer is easy, cheap, quick and simple way to brighten up a dinner table every day of the week!
Here I cut some twigs from our apple three. Apples sit there naturally.
Wishing you a wonderful Wednesday!
Minna : )
p.s. Today I posted the last Koti and Keittiö magazines to those who placed orders. I'll do a quick rewiew later on here as well.
